My first MIDI interfaces for Mac back in the early 90s were MOTU, and they were the first brand I thought of when I decided to move into digital audio on the PC. You alter your buffer size in your device's own control panel, which you should be able to get to by clicking 'Hardware Setup' in Live by going to Options > Preferences > Audio.ДЄnd regarding alternative interfaces I really just went with MOTU because of brand loyalty. Latency is affected by the speed of your PC, the speed and congestion of your bus (PCI, PCI express, USB, FireWire, etc), your interface drivers, the interface hardware itself, the buffer size, and probably some things I'm not aware of. Live 8 has a 'driver error compensation' but that's for special cases where the interface doesn't detect/report the true latency correctly. I've never had to mess with any kind of compensation setting. This causes delay regardless of your system being able to compensate fully at a given buffer size? Thanks for your help. Do just to check your saying that regardless of setting a compensated latency of zero at a given buffer size, for recording what you need to be looking the input latency for the buffer size. So you think a MOTU is an outboard box better suited to live? I'll try out your suggestions today. I did the delay compensation error tutorial although I don't believe it has anything to do with the signal coming through the software itself.Дoes anyone know why this is happening? I know you can set audio delay compensation track by track but this seems very tedious and I'm not sure to calculate the delay compensation time necessary to make the return signal closely match my live vocals. My issue is that while recording on miked instruments or vocals the processed signal coming from the DAW has significant delay, even if all I have is an ableton compressor and EQ on the track. I never have any problems with audio dropout and my computer seems handle the load, even on big mixes, just fine. My latency on audio preferences is set to zero with compensation.

Or, it may be that the 11.0 'Avid 003' driver still doesn't work correctly in Pro Tools 10.3.9 AND Avid has somehow broken compatibility with the 10.3.3 '003' driver.ДЄlso there may be some other impact from using the 11.1 or 11.1.2 drivers for Mavericks, which I can't test as I'm still on Mountain Lion.I'm having a problem with delay well recording vocals and other instruments.

The 11.0 'Avid 003' driver did not work correctly in earlier 10.3.x versions of Pro Tools. I don't know whether this means that the 11.0 'Avid 003' driver now also correctly works in Pro Tools 10.3.9 and so Avid have written some code to ignore and not display the 10.3.3 '003' driver.

I'll do some testing tomorrow and update here with the results. The 10.3.3 Digi 003 driver, which used to show up just as '003' does not appear.Д«oth drivers do still appear correctly in OSX Sound Preferences. I notice that, unlike earlier 10.3.x versions of Pro Tools, only the 11.0 'Avid 003' driver shows up in the playback engine. I haven't used Pro Tools 10 in a while now, but have installed 10.3.9 I loaded up Pro Tools 10 to check what I said above before posting.

The two drivers coexist together on your system happily.ДЄctually, though, I have just discovered what may be a separate issue/problem. In OSX Sound Preferences the two drivers show up as 'Digidesign HW (003)' and 'Avid 003' respectively. The 10.3.3 driver should show up just as '003', in the playback engine selection list, whereas the 11.x driver shows up as 'Avid 003'. You need to select the correct driver in each version of Pro Tools for everything to work correctly.

If you have installed the latest 'Digi 003вЂ™ driver that is the one that works with Pro Tools 10, not Pro Tools 11.ДЄnd install 10.3.3 for use with Pro Tools 10 (if you have that installed) and either 11.0 for use with Pro Tools 11 (if using Mountain Lion) or 11.1.2 (if using Mavericks. Pro Tools 10 and Pro Tools 11 require DIFFERENT 003 drivers.
